Citizenship is based on:
- Respect/Responsibility– Listen to instruction, treat others appropriately, no swearing, no vulgarity. Replace damaged or lost items.
- Positive attitude – Be enthusiastic. Work hard. Be Creative. Do more than “just enough”. Have pride in your work.
- Attendance – Show up before the bell rings. Show up on or before “call time” for before and after school jobs.
Class rules:
- No food or drink allowed on stage or class. Water in a sealable container is acceptable.
- No family or friends allowed on stage or in production areas
- No improper use of equipment, computers or internet. This will result in loss of computer/internet access.
- No abuse of stage crew privileges, ie. getting out of class, going into restricted areas, etc.
- No phones/music players/portable electronic Use of portable electronics, only when instructed.
- It is inappropriate to record images or conversations of staff members without their permission.
Students are required to bring:

Student media permission
- Students will be placing personal images and/or video on their web sites. These images and/or video are to be appropriate for all audiences and are strictly for educational purposes.
Stage Crew Production Class Objectives and Syllabus
I. Introduction to Stage Production
A. Objectives
1. Demonstrate understanding of basic stage production vocabulary and personnel.
2. Describe the various areas of stage craft and the phases of a play production
3. Develop an understanding of the use and maintenance of stage equipment
4. Understand and apply the safety rules of the stage area
B. Content
1. Examine stage vocabulary
2. Examine stage facilities and floor plan
3. Examine safety rules of the stage
C. Activities
1. View “Introduction to Technical theater video”, fill out worksheets and tour the stage
2. Discuss stage directions, stage areas and temporary and permanent stage equipment
3. Discuss the safety rules of the stage area
4. Examine pictures of sets from previous years
II. Scenery: Design and Construction
A. Objectives
1. To understand a scale drawing of the stage area
2. To cover frames with canvas or muslin
3. To select paint, mix it, and paint scenery
4. To build special units (stairs, doors, etc.)
5. To mount the scenery
6. To trim the set
7. To strike the set
B. Content
1. Examine the available lighting equipment
2. Examine a light plot
C. Activities
1. Assemble pictures that would be useful in designing the set for an all school play
2. Draw to scale designs for the school plays
3. Draw designs of individual set pieces for the plays
4. Construct, paint, trim, and strike the sets for the 3 plays of the school drama season
III. Stage Lighting Unit
A. Objectives
1. To understand the limitations of available lighting equipment
2. To operate available lighting equipment
3. To build equipment that will supplement available light facilities
4. To design a light plot
B. Content
1. Examine the available lighting equipment
2. Examine a light plot
C. Activities
1. Construct a simple piece of lighting equipment
2. Design a light plot for a school play
3. Set up the equipment necessary to light the play
4. Run the lights during rehearsal and performance of a play
IV. Properties and Sound Effects Unit

1. To understand the importance of stage properties
2. To understand the principle of “dressing the stage”

1. Tour the “Props room”
2. Practice setting up and running the sound equipment
