Digital Media 1 / 10th - 12th Grade / Full Year Class
Digital Media 1 is a first-year media course where students will create projects using basic elements design, text, digital imaging, graphics, audio, animation, and video. Students will gain experience with professional level designing and authoring software, such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Illustrator, Acid, Vegas, etc. This class will prepare them for entry-level Digital Media positions and provide them with the fundamental skills necessary for any occupational or educational pursuits. Students will develop and produce projects such as photos, logos, musical scores, and videos. And all these projects will be put on a student built web site to function as an online portfolio.
Skills developed in this course:
1. Proper use and maintenance of digital equipment.
2. Application of proper image composition and principles of design to digital images, graphics and video.
3. Basic use of digital media for commercial use.
4. Setting up and using proper image, video, audio and lighting equipment
5. Using photo, graphic, audio, animation, and video software to enhance, repair and improve digital presentations.
6. Create final projects to demonstrate skills learned.
7. Working in teams to complete projects properly and promptly.

Citizenship is based on:

- Attendance – Show up before the bell rings. Show up on or before “call time” for before and after school jobs.
Class rules:
- No food or drink allowed on stage or class. Water in a sealable container is acceptable.
- No family or friends allowed on stage or in production areas
- No improper use of equipment, computers or internet. This will result in loss of computer/internet access.
- No abuse of stage crew privileges, ie. getting out of class, going into restricted areas, etc.
- No phones/music players/portable electronic Use of portable electronics, only when instructed.
- It is inappropriate to record images or conversations of staff members without their permission.
Students are required to bring:

Student media permission
- Students will be placing personal images and/or video on their web sites. These images and/or video are to be appropriate for all audiences and are strictly for educational purposes.

1ST Semester
STANDARD 2 Students will demonstrate common computer functions pertaining to digital media.
